Ballistic Plates & Speed Plates
When preparing for your patrol shift making sure you have the appropriate amount of ballistic armor is imperative. Law enforcement officers are required to wear body armor under their uniforms while they are on duty. The type of body armor worn can vary between, concealable armor, plate carriers, tactical armor and stab armor.
When it comes to protecting our public safety professionals, ballistic body armor plates are a necessity. The importance of wearing an additional layer of protection can mean the difference between life and death. To ensure that our police officers and military have the protection from projectiles they need, companies such as Paraclete and Ceradyne have designed ballistic plates that are inserted into concealable body armor.
There are different threat level categorizations that armor plates are rated, they include:
- Level II – Tested to stop 9mm and .357 Magnum ammunition fired from short barrel handguns. No rifle ammunition protection.
- Level IIA – Tested to stop 9mm and .40 S&W ammunition fired from short barrel handguns. No rifle ammunition protection.
- Level IIIA – Tested to stop .357 SIG and .44 Magnum ammunition fired from longer barrel handguns. No rifle ammunition protection.
With the extremely demanding situations that our law enforcement officers face daily, Galls is driven to ensure that officers are fully prepared for every shift.
